Mayce & Colten Baker
This month we have a BONUS Blush Crush! We want to take a moment to celebrate members of our HQ Blush Family (and brand new parents), Mayce & Colten Baker!
Mayce and her husband, Colten, met in 2013 right before she started her senior year of high school. From the beginning, nothing was simple! After both living abroad, starting at two separate colleges, and many adventures in between, Mayce and Colten were engaged and married in October of 2017. Almost six years later, Colten is now a pilot for SkyWest Airlines while Mayce works at BeautyBio as the Social Media Manager. They just welcomed their first baby girl into the world on April 11th of this year, and are so smitten with the new love of their lives!

What is your current title & occupation?
Mayce: BeautyBio’s Social Media Manager and Mom
Colten: Commercial Airline Pilot and Dad
What's been the biggest surprise that has come with parenthood so far?
Mayce: Definitely how quickly the days fly by! I feel like everyone told me the days would feel like months, but when you’re keeping track of every 2-3 hours to feed a newborn, the day goes by SO fast. I can’t believe she’s almost 2 months old!
Colten: I am so surprised how much formula she goes through and how often we have to wash all the bottles! Also I am surprised how quickly she has developed a happy and smiley face.
Who's better at swaddling, Colten or Mayce?
Mayce: Obviously me! LOL
Colten: Mayce! I swaddle out of fear of her waking up so it inhibits my ability to be good at it. (Aka I'm blinded by fear)
What is the best parenting advice you’ve received?
Mayce: “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” It’s so easy to throw yourself into feeding, diaper changes, laundry, cleaning bottles, etc. and forget to even eat a meal that day! But I am such a better mom and wife when I make sure I am taking care of ME too.
Colten: Everything that goes into supporting your partner during postpartum and the recovery process. Try to do your research or talk with your partner about what the recovery process will look like so that you are prepared and know what you can do to help.
What is your favorite memory of YOUR dad?
Mayce: I have so many! But the first one that comes to mind is my dad driving my sister and I to school every morning when we lived in Colorado. Every time we would round a specific corner and the road would open up to a beautiful mountain range view he would point and say “BEAUTIFUL”! There are a lot of things I think my dad was trying to instill in us by pointing this out every morning, but it also just made me love my sweet dad who found joy in pointing out the beauty.
Colten: I was very little, probably like the earliest age of when you can have memories. It was the 4th of July and my dad took me to hike up to the top of a mountain in Arizona together and we sat on the edge and watched all of the fireworks in the valley. He also brought glow sticks and we cracked them and threw them back and forth at each other once the sun had gone down. It's such a fun memory because I have 5 siblings but this happened before all of my other siblings were part of our lives so this is a unique memory that I get to share with him!
What are you most looking forward to in the next few months?
Mayce: I’m really looking forward to taking Golden to the beach for the 4th of July! And even though it’s a little way down the road, I’m so excited to see Golden chase our dog Penny around and for them to become best friends!
Colten: I can't wait to see Golden on the beach and I feel so excited to see her personality grow through her expressions! They are always very full of emotions. I also can't wait to keep dancing around and singing Luke Combs to her.
